Jamie Carragher Officially Opens Bone & Joint Centre
Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher officially unveiled a new clinic which helped get him back onto the pitch following his shoulder injury. The midfielder announced the opening of the Bone and Joint Centre, which will form an extension to the private Spire Liverpool Hospital, Mossley Hill.
Jamie was presented with a cheque for his 23 Foundation charity by Mr Peter Brownson, a nationally recognised expert in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and upper limb surgeon for Liverpool Football Club.
Mr Brownson treated the footballer at the Bone and Joint Centre after he dislocated his shoulder during a match in November, enabling him to return to the game last month, three-and-a-half weeks ahead of schedule.
He said: “I hate sitting on the side lines and thanks to the excellent care of Mr Brownson and his team I was able to get back into playing earlier than expected, for which I’m really thankful. The same goes for anybody in any profession, being out of action is just inconvenient.
“When it comes to our health, we need to be able to trust whoever is looking after us and I felt confident in the treatment I received. The new look Bone and Joint Centre feels more like a relaxing hotel than a hospital.”
The £200,000 clinic will feature state-of-the-art equipment including a premier mobile MRI scanning service and comprehensive diagnostic facilities.
A team of consultants specialising in all areas of orthopaedics including joint replacement, sports injuries, upper and lower limb surgery will practice at the new centre.
The unique clinic will now have the capacity to treat up to 100 patients each week in its three consulting rooms and services include a sports injury clinic specialising in musculo-skeletal conditions.
Mr Brownson said: “At the Bone and Joint Centre, patients have peace of mind from knowing they are being looked after by a team of leading orthopaedic consultants. ”We are able to offer a one stop shop for all orthopaedic conditions, from consultations and diagnostic services to leading-edge treatment and aftercare. All in modern, bespoke surroundings.
“Jamie’s recent injury reflects our commitment to patients – all receive a safe and quick service and in many cases can expect a fast recovery.”
Liz Cousins, hospital director at Spire Liverpool Hospital, said: “Our dedicated experts throughout Spire Liverpool Hospital provide a quality healthcare service in an organisation with a proven track record that is focused on comprehensive patient centred care.
“The Bone and joint Centre will provide an extensive service for patients in a technologically-advanced, relaxing new centre.”
